What Is a Good Marriage?
Marriage is defined as any of the diverse forms of interpersonal union established in various parts of the world to form a familial bond that is recognized legally, religiously, or socially, granting the participating partners mutual conjugal rights and responsibilities. The concept of marriage has changed drastically over time, the debate is whether or not the definition of a good marriage has changed. The interpretation of a good marriage has changed over the years because of interracial marriage, gay marriage, and women’s equality; but, the traditional notion of marriage has not deteriorated, only reconditioned to match modern society. Whether people agree or not, the face of marriage has changed. Nowadays, there is more equality in marriage, which makes for a better and loving marriage. There is the traditional marriages between men and women, and now there is marriage between those of the same gender and different race. It is arguable that these unorthodox marriages are better. The definition of marriage used to be between men and women of the same race, which is no longer true. Holly Nall, an advocate for same-sex marriage, explains freedom of choice using the example of her own mixed-race relationship in her article Mixed Relationships Offer Diversity.
