I would appeal to ethos to try to persuade my skeptical parents that a gap year will be beneficial by having a parent of a person who had taken a gap year speak to my parents about any concerns that they may have about me taking a year off. Also, I would arrange a meeting with my high school principal so that my parents can talk to a school official and ask any questions they may have. I would appeal to logos to try to persuade my skeptical parents that a gap year will be beneficial by showing them the results of students who passed their classes that took a gap year compared to students who did not take a gap year. To establish ethos, I would obviously be very humble and use language at the same level as my parents because if my parents feel respected, it helps build my ethos. I would also admit that I do not have as much experience with college and gap years as my parents to establish ethos. To build my credibility which in turn builds my ethos, I would do thorough research in order to demonstrate my knowledge on the subject of gap years so that my parents are more willing to listen to me. I would focus primarily on appealing to logos when presenting…
