Many people have dreams, some of them are higher than others, some people have who can help them to achieve those goals, some other search the way to achieve them even if they are alone. As many people can dream and make those dreams reality, they are also a group of people which their dreams deferred. With the example of the play “A Raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansberry, African Americans cannot dream or aspire to great things because of the environment of oppression that surrounds them, even if they do dare to dream. The dream of most of African Americans was freedom, that was their principal concern. Another example is Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream is about a world without racism, militarism and materialism remains a distant dream, but his dream …show more content…
Mama had $10,000 that she wanted to expend it in a better place to live, but his son, Walter, preferred to invest the entire sum in a liquor store. Notwithstanding, Mama isn't interested in putting money into something that she sees as sinful, such as a liquor store. Meanwhile, Beneatha, his sister, wants to use the money for medical school. When Mama decides to use part of the money as a down payment on a house in a white neighborhood, Walter talk to Mama to asked her why does she didn’t want to help him, after a large discussion between both, the next day Mama decided to give one part of the money to Walter and the other to Beneatha, too. Both of them were happy with the idea of having a better future. One of Walter Lee's prospective business partners named William runs off with the money, consequently, a loss which tests the spiritual and psychological mettle of each family member. Devastated, Walter seriously considers taking an offer from Mr. Lindner, a representative from the white neighborhood that would pay the Youngers extra not to move into their neighborhood.
