I was the first born to two strong, independent Mexican immigrants. I have two bright younger sisters who should aspire a career in boxing, as they can 't seem to stop hitting the books. My younger brother is as athletic as they come and strives to one day make it big on the soccer field. Me? I have other aspirations. Some of my close friends would describe me as motivated, lively, extraterrestrial and a lover of film. For the longest time, I dreamed of directing motion pictures (I was absorbed by the films of Paul Thomas Anderson and Stanley Kubrick), but throughout my teenage years my dream just seemed too unrealistic to follow. I began writing scripts of my own and went on to submitting one of them to the Sundance Film Festival for their annual Screenwriter’s Program. I prayed that I would get the help necessary to help fund my idea and turn it into a film, but unfortunately my story got rejected. This screenplay that I worked on day and night, was a story fueled by personal experiences- I called it "Gods". It is a tale about a group of teenage friends and their journey into destruction through the use of drugs, violence and promiscuous sex. I wanted to make a piece of film that would hopefully reach a younger, misguided audience and open their eyes before it was too late. This same feeling of wanting to help was translated into working with special needs kids and Gen Ed in a turnaround school.
