Personal Narrative: Pursuing My Dreams

Have you ever been in a situation where you always wonder what it would be like if you’ve made another decision in life? I was. Born and raised in China, I have been always influenced by the traditional value—do what most people do, listen to your parents. Pursuing music has always been my dream that I was too scared to reach to. Most people around me always define success in a monetary way. I was never brave enough to challenge the traditional way of thinking until I recently moved to the United State and started to study in Tarrant County College to make this American dream come alive, to chase where my passion really is. I sincerely cherish this chance and would really appreciate a scholarship opportunity for me to make this dream come true.

Music has been so important to me since a young age, but I was never aware of it and too afraid to pursue it. When I was young, we couldn’t afford a piano or piano lessons. My mom’s best friend got her son a piano and I was so eager to learn, however my parents told me I should focus

I just moved here last year October, and step by step I been getting used to here and taken care of the driving test, social security, credit transfer, and I finally applied for a part time job and now waiting to hear a response. At the same time, I’m looking forward to participating in volunteer works locally. My husband has been my support, however, we live with his parents, we do not have our own house yet, and often times my parents in law need medical attention and grocery that my husband needs to help with financially. This is not a permanent solution, which I sincerely hope to get scholarship opportunities to continue my dream on this path that someday I could tell my kids or even people who have passion for anything, do not be afraid to chase your
