Essay On Teaching Credential

There are a number of reasons why I want to pursue a teaching credential at California State University, Long Beach. First, some of the most enjoyable times in my life have occurred when I have been teaching. My first teaching experience was when I was twenty as a camp counselor. It was a camp for junior high school students and I got to teach them in groups and one on one with each student. I was in locum parentis for one week with each group of junior high school students. I took them to each meal of the day and guided them through activities as well as teaching and overall caretaking of the students. Additionally, I spent six years in various roles of my church teaching once or twice a week with the ages ranging from sixth grade students …show more content…
Social science has a depth and complexity to it that is very exciting. There is not one single way of looking at the past. Historians need to implement every historical thinking skills to evaluate the past and even then biases creep in and cloud or distort the way we view the past. It is a discipline that continues to grow and change with new information, which will be intriguing and exciting to teach my students. One way my passion for teaching and history can be measured is by my GPA. While my overall GPA is not anything to write home about, it does reveal something about me. I began my college education attending California State University, Long Beach directly out of high school, but I had no drive of vision for what I wanted to do with my career so I did not go to my classes and eventually dropped out of college to pursue other avenues. After I found my love for teaching I immediately began taking classes that would provide me with the ability to make my passion my career. From that moment on at California State University, Long Beach I have been on the Presidents or Deans list every semester showing that my competency and understanding of history and teaching are at a high level. In short, my GPA shows that I have a passion for what I will be teaching, which often translates to the

Each person has his or her individual path to follow, no two paths are exactly the same; but, every now and then, paths interweave and people construct bonds with each other. In the case of Sonny and his brother, the narrator, in James Baldwin’s short story, “Sonny’s Blues”, their paths were parallel with one another until they grew up. Sonny left the slums of Harlem, aspiring to become a musician, while his brother settled in Harlem and became a teacher. Although the narrator and his brother ended up with completely different lives, the narrator being a family man with a teaching job and Sonny, an ex-convict playing jazz at a club, are ironically more similar than they are portrayed.…

One day, I took my one and a half year old nephew to a place called Gymboree, a gym with play equipment to help teach the children how to do various activities. My sister suggested that I should come see him play and climb on the equipment during the lesson. One of the workers came to the front and started the first exercise by singing a song. My nephew clapped, screamed, and danced to show his excitement. As I watched the lesson director sing and encourage the children, I realized how much I enjoyed it and how much I wanted to be in the director's shoes.…

I personally wholeheartedly agree, credentialing is important in protecting both the patients and the institution from harm, but reality is that credentialing alone won’t address every conceivable action that may occur during business operations. Unfortunately, errors will happen or may occur due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances that may arise or develop during the process. I remember doing a paper in my undergraduate studies that focused on NASA, and one expects a high level of quality, and quality was there, but an additional influence that contributed to some of their problems was a culture that believed in their invincibility. Management had a corporate culture that could be generally described as arrogance.…
