TM Landry Influenced My Life

Improved Essays
What impact has TM Landry had on me? An impact is the way an outside force influences an individual’s behavior. Everyone has experienced an event that has shaped their beliefs or influenced their actions. These events can vary from a death to moving schools. This was the case with Sean. Sean waited at the bus stop as he replayed the last two weeks. Sean’s dad had recently moved them to a different state for his new job. Since Sean was an introvert, he dreaded the idea of starting over in a new city. Reluctantly, Sean walked up the steps of the bus and began what he thought would be the most challenging day of his life. On the bus, he sat next to a girl named Lauren. Lauren was extremely friendly and talkative, and by the end of …show more content…
My instructors are constantly helping students with their problems, academic or personal. Seeing them take the time out of their busy schedules to help others inspires me to do the same. One standard that we all try to live by at my school is I am my brother’s keeper. All of us try to remember that our school is a family, and if one of us is struggling, then we are all struggling. TM Landry is filled with young kids talking about what colleges they want to attend when they grow up. Seeing how such young kids have high goals makes me want to help them achieve theirs like my instructors are helping me achieve mine.
My work ethic has improved tremendously since I began at TM Landry. Attending TM Landry has made me realize that working hard now may guarantee you success in the future. I study hard now so that I can get accepted to the university of my dreams. I am now aware that my goals will not be achieved if my work ethic is weak. Staying up all night to grasp a concept or passing up going out with my friends to study may get me one step closer to where I envision myself to be in the future, and it is a sacrifice I am willing to

I always have followed the saying “if you work hard in life now you will not have to work as hard later.” This saying applies not only to how I work during school now, but how I participate in activities outside of school. To excel in what you want to achieve in life, I believe you need to put in the best effort and try your best in whatever you do. Living by this idea has helped me become a leader in the things I do. It has helped me put others at the same standard as myself and it helps me show my character.…

Reflection on Horace’s Compromise While parallel to the system of education I have experienced, the observations made by Horace in Horace’s Compromise apply only to the institutions I have attended, not the students with whom I was educated. For the entirety of my life I have attended a private, Catholic school in northeastern Pennsylvania. I went to Gate of Heaven School from kindergarten to eighth grade, and then Holy Redeemer High School for grades nine through twelve. Both of these establishments are run by the Diocese of Scranton, an institution that dictates which schools remain open, who teaches in those schools, and what is taught within said schools. The educators are placed in a situation similar to Horace, but with a bishop, rather…
