What I Want To Be Taught In Schools Essay

We as students have a few issues with how we are taught, we want to be taught things we could actually use in life like how to get a job, how to do taxes, etc. The things we are being taught today we most likely will never use them in our school career. When are we gonna need to know different types of triangles? My point is we need a change, the school system has been the same for years and the things we’re learning are pretty useless in our future careers, some of the classes are useful depending on what you want to be when you grow up.
Since the beginning of school, we’ve been taught to answer multiple choice questions, or write essays. We know how to calculate volume and circumference, or who invented the light bulb, but what good is this doing for our future? Why is this important for me to know unless it has something to do with my job? I could tell you how much water this cylinder will hold or who invented the periodic table, but could I tell you how I’m supposed to pay for college or how to write a check, no. Why are we going to need to know what

Well obviously we all know that but we are taught it's because of bullies but lots of times it's because they don’t want to have to deal with a test, quizzes, or homework they forgot to do . This stressed kids and teens way more than they should be. They already have to deal with their outside lives. Though when you think about it studies show students spend about 900-1,000 hours of a year in a classroom. Now imagine that for the 12 years of school we have plus if you go to college. That is about 25% of our lives and pretty much our whole childhood. A lot of people have tried to beat the school system or get the message out there that schools need to be changed. Only a few have succeeded, some schools have listened and changed their ways but lots of schools haven’t so we are hoping you will make a change and make tomorrow brighter for you and

Our lack of discussion in school has made us never realize, until we came into the real world they day we graduated, what was really going. We’re separated from the reality that we built because we want to ignore the fact that we have made no progress on making things equal and things still remain separate. We don’t discuss the real world in class, which leads us to being either being unsympathetic and cold to those who deserve the education just as much as we…

In Chapter Three, “Pressure”, the author, Alexandra Robbins argues that the pressure that American high school students are facing is dangerous to student’s well-being. In this chapter, Robbins exposes the amount of pressure that is being put on high school students today to get into a good university and succeed in life. The pressure that school, no matter the level, puts on students is unhealthy. Students are stressed to the max trying to achieve certain goals set by society. Every student strives for a 4.0 GPA and a high score on standardized test, even though they go through great amounts of stress to feel they have reached those goals. While if you don 't reach those certain goals you will feel like you have failed and not truly been prepared for your future. Evaluating students based on standardized testing is a very poor and inaccurate way to determine their intelligence.…

My heart pounded. My knees shook. I feared the other twenty students sitting around me could hear my heart leaping out of my chest as I read each question on the SAT. When I looked around the room, I realized they all had the same look of terror on their faces as I did. This test determined the rest of our futures; whether we’d get into the college of our dreams or not.…

As I looked around at my new classmates on my first day of public school, I was in complete shock. All around me I saw students who did not care in the slightest about their education and who saw school as simply a chore instead of an adventure. They slumped down in their chairs, cheated off of each other left and right, rolled their eyes at teachers, and spent each day watching the clock, waiting for the bell to ring that would released from their “prison.” That August morning, I felt like I was in a completely different world: one where I did not belong.…

The fact that I’m able to keep my grade above a 95% without paying any attention during class, or oftentimes not showing up at all, displays that there’s a humongous problem in our educational system. I recognize that I’m lucky to live in a country that gives everyone a chance at an education and a bright future, yet every day I see it being taken for granted or wasted; As a result, I’ve slowly begun realizing that America’s high schools need to make a…

Educators and politicians are faced with “improving student success.” However, student success and school reform have been viewed in the same manor for the last few generations and nothing has changed. Educators and politicians need to look at the problem from a different angle; perhaps school reform will have a positive outcome. A problem with the planning and implementation of school reform are the incentives and punishments often associated with reform. Educators and politicians need to take incentives out of the equation and make changes because they are needed and because these changes…

Why do we need to learn this? Are we ever going to use this? Questions that have crossed the minds of everyone at some point or another. Most of the time teachers will react to this thought with an unclear answer or will divert the topic, but there are times when teachers say it is only being taught because it is required material that students will most likely never use the material again. Teachers teach the test because the American education system is set up to ensure students learn specific material.…

Every week more than 28% of high school students fall asleep in school,22% will fall asleep while doing their homework, and 14% are late or miss class due to oversleeping. Nearly half of the students sleep less than eight hours on school nights. I think our nation’s school system is flawed in many ways,we make our children get up before their recommended waking time even after scientific proof that they shouldn’t,we make curriculum difficult,we have tests that are more about test scores than education, and we limit creativity in our schools.. Lots of people want the schools to change for the improvement of student grades and attitude.if we were to change our school system students would improve and we wouldn’t be 13 best in the world. We, as pupils of the Math, Science, and Arts Academy, deserve basic rights as we are transferring from young adults to adults soon. Being in a public school, a student should always be happy to be able to go to school, but yet they aren’t because of the amount of stress caused from the Department of Education and the state of Louisiana due to End of the Year Courses, Common Core, SMI,SRI, Benchmark and ACT. As young adults, having fun is the number one thing that makes life better, but with the constant homework and standardized test, students can never have fun and they get depressed. School should not be depressing, school should be fun, but in today’s world, school isn’t about learning anymore, it’s about passing which makes it even more…
