What I Learned To Write A Professional Letter

Improved Essays
This semester I have grown significantly in many aspects, I thought I had already mastered. From the very beginning I had to improve to be able to keep up with the structure, my teacher created for this class. This made me grow in my skills to communicate ideas. For example, one major project we had to do was a Job Shadow. This project involved a rigorous search for potential shadows in different careers. Once the shadows were found we had to be able to communicate with them well enough to get contacted back. This involved a complete new style of writing that I wasn't used to. The professional letter was very different from a normal letter such as: ignoring indentation, having a different heading, and actually developing a signature. In terms of writing skills this assignment was very enlightening to me as, in the beginning of the year I struggled with writing. By putting all the dedication I have on this letter I managed to pick up better vocabulary as well as improvement with my transitions. …show more content…
I won't look foolish writing a friendly letter when I should be writing a professional one. I won't need to struggle finding the proper outline for a professional letter because I already gained that knowledge. Furthermore, my skills in career readiness were improved by teaching me the life lessons of getting a job. This is because I was able to deal with rejection if I was never called back for a chance to shadow. If I was rejected on a job I would have to be able to come up with back ups as fast I could in order to reach the deadline, this skill showed me how well I can actually persevere and how important this skill

On the first day of class, I felt pretty confident about my level of skills as a writer, but little did I know there were a lot of aspects in my writing that could be improved. As time progressed and we learned more about colloquial language and little things I could change in my essays to further advance and improve my writing. Now, I feel even more confident about my writing and know that all of these little changes I can make in my writing create a better flow of ideas and a higher level of formality. I feel that throughout this semester I have been greatly challenged as a writer and have advanced the most that I ever have in writing within such a short period of time. However, you did give us a very helpful example, which is your recommendation letter for one of your students. After reading it for a while, I somehow distinguished that each paragraph of the letter had written much shorter than an original essay format.…

Throughout the course there were many different assignments that I found to be challenging in their own ways. The design of many projects was much different than anything I had previously encountered, causing much more effort, and thought. Specifically, the rhetorical analysis and the proposal were two projects that took me outside of my comfort zone. Each project encompassed its distinct difficulties that ended up evolving my knowledge about writing.…

Over the course of this semester in my English 1320 class I have seen a drastic change throughout my writing style. Although I still have difficulties with a few writing tasks, I believe that I have improved significantly throughout this course. I have found that with my professor’s guidance along with my own personal editing that my grades have increased. Although it is difficult to not get caught up in simply striving for a letter grade or attaining a 4.0 grade point average, I would like to believe that my main goal was different. Of course I would love to achieve those goals as well, but overall my primary goal throughout this class was to become more relaxed and comfortable in my writings, to use new strategies and proper kinds of conventions, and to truly find a way to express my passion on these papers.…

I’ve chosen to focus on “Exploration and Argumentation” as the subject of this reflective introduction, specifically looking at my argument paper, “Abortion: Right or Wrong?” as a reference to the importance of this learning outcome.
