What I Learned To Establish An Assignment In Middle School

Improved Essays
I hate working with people who don’t contribute to assignments. In elementary school my teacher would force us into groups and it was fine because everyone did their part. I loved how quick and easy it was to finish an assignment that otherwise would have taken me days. In middle school I started to notice that people were slacking off. My groups usually didn’t contribute much so I would do the assignment on my own because there was no way I was going to let my GPA fall down. High school year came along. I was with new people, environment and a fresh new start. I was shocked at how everyone would work together and make sure it was above standards. I was ecstatic that I no longer had to deal with irresponsible people or so I thought. The day …show more content…
I thought my group was going to be the most hardworking group but I was completely wrong. The first day we exchanged emails and set up a google drive document, so everyone could work on assignments at the same time. For our first assignment our professor asked us to individually find a scholarly reviewed article. The task wasn’t that hard but the next day when I went to class some of my teammates did not attempt the assignment. At first I ignored it and thought they might have been busy and it wouldn’t happen again but I was wrong. As time progressed 2 of my team mates stopped showing to class. The professor later assigned another assignment and I went right to work on it since it was fairly simple. The day before the assignment was due I went ahead to check if my team mates had done their part but I only saw what I had previously put in. I was furious that my group didn’t do their part but I couldn’t do much so I got right to work. One of my group members logged in later that day and together we completed the assignment around 4am. I was exhausted but I managed to finish but the next day I felt terrible. I felt drained and the stress starting to build up so I took a day

The groups were decided at random, and I was placed luckily with two very close friends, Josefeth and Reyna, and Kevin, a student who did not have the best reputation for completing his assignments. I felt from the beginning that I might end up doing more work than Kevin, but I decided to trust that he would not let the group down when so many points were at stake. We began delegating responsibilities amongst ourselves and made progress as they days went by. Nearing the deadline, we checked on each others progress a few days prior to the due date. Reyna, Josefeth, and I had each completed our segments of the assignment, and Kevin had assured us that he, too, had completed his portion.…

On the 8th of October, I was given an assignment to find the book Why Things Bite Back by Edward Tenner. When I find the book I have to answer the question of how many pages are in chapter 12. I originally wanted to do this task right away, but little did I know that my mind had other ideas. When class ended, I went to my introduction to college class and thinking about how I would handle it. So I devoted my entire focus to that problem for the entire class period.…

The research project was an assignment I did not enjoy. I felt like the assignment was a little rushed, and that the class was not given enough time to meet with other group members. Not having enough time to do an assignment is one of my biggest pet peeves. I think we should have had class, instead of group conferences. The group conference was a one hour conference with the group and the professor.…

I feel as if the group project could have been done a lot better I felt as there was more of a focus on getting to know one another rather than focusing on the assessment. Currently I am not as confident on working with individuals that I don’t know so well as I was when we first started as I realized not everyone in the group had the same approach towards the task as I did especially in terms of prioritization despite this I believe I am more confident in showing leadership as Staci and Emily had other commitments I attempted to accommodate for this by contacting them and working out times when they were both free I believe this was a positive thing as normally in group assessments I have a tendency to rely on other people to make decisions like this and it was a positive experience delegating rather than receiving tasks. Overall working with Staci and Emily was fine as I have a more passive personality in group assignments it was a good learning experience for me a study has also shown that working as group positively influences and facilitates an exchange of knowledge(Shaw, Mitchell and Del Fabbro, 2015) this definitely occurred during our group work when it came to elaborating on social determinants I was able to help both Staci and Emily better understand them while Staci assisted me in learning about the stream factors overall I believe we compensated very well for each other’s gaps of knowledge . On the other side of the spectrum our fourth member Louis was difficult to work with as he contacted us the weekend before the assignment was actually ready to present and this caused a lot of stress and panic, after talking to Emily and Staci they definitely felt the same way about the situation with…

We formed the group of four people promptly and waited for the topic to be assigned. The topic was assigned in week 9, while in other courses we knew all our topics for group assignments from week 3. Not only the topic for group project was assigned late, but I never had a chance to see the marking rubric and, therefore, to know the instructor’s expectations about my work. Despite the tight deadlines, our group equally divided the workload among four people and started to research the literature about the topic.…

Reflecting upon the years I have spent as an El Dorado High School student I thought I could offer you some advice so you can make your four years here as painless and smooth as possible. Overview When coming into this school year I had high expectations of what it would be like, unfortunately school does not have instructions included. We all have this pre-written idea of what the seventh grade will be like, whether it's improving our social status or finally being in a relationship. When looking at these goals from afar we just think these are the cliche pubescent middle school goals; at least that's what I thought when I surveyed students in what they wanted before the school year ended. But when we look at these goals with an open mind they're actually trying to figure out your place in life or figuring out…

The main point of this paper was to analyze and convey what adolescents are doing with their time and what it means for how and in what way they are developing in that time. Reed Larson, the author of the paper brings up how over the years young people have started to do less and less labor work at a young age, slowly receding to more of an emphasis on school work and supplemental discretionary time. Time doing chores have lowered as more kids start becoming more distracted in other time takers such a television and the new monster of their time the internet. Adolescents going up today have a new sense of interconnectedness and have much more opportunities to spend their time wisely or not so wisely. The schoolwork that has over taken labor…

We all tried, but I think some of us took the project more seriously than others. Kevin was always late to our meetings event though when we created the team contract we agreed to be punctual unless there was an emergency. I doubt that there was an emergency every single week when we met. I think Amy and myself did most of the work, we had to assign work for Kevin and Shaohui to do otherwise they would not take the initiative to do something unless we asked them to do it which was frustrating because Kevin was supposed to be the project manager and it was his responsibility to make sure that we were doing our part and being the leader of the team. I am not saying that it was all his responsibility because we are all adults and can do our part, but what I am saying is that they were not behaving as adults.…
