Advantages And Disadvantages Of Drawing

Anyone can draw! It is what I learned from drawing class. People usually say this: “I am not creative” or “I can’t draw”, and are terrified by that thought. I saw a girl cried and quit class on the first day because she thought she cannot draw. I don’t blame her because the fear of someone else looking at your drawing and laugh, and the idea “I am not good enough” itself are strikingly scary for most people. But, the people who decided to stay, I believe, are now very happy with their decision because this drawing class not only helps students strengthen drawing techniques but also helps built confident and creativity within each individual. Creative ideas are not just suddenly pop up in someone’s head. It is a process that can be taught, can be learned, and can be strengthened over time. For example, on the second day of class, the teacher asked everyone to relax their minds and start doodling. Yes, I mean doodle …show more content…
The most visible strength is the improvement of my drawing techniques over time. I learn to capture the picture faster and all the shading, lighting, and perspective are also much better than the beginning. I also learn that there are variety of drawing tools and they can be very flexible, for example, I love working with charcoal because I think it enhances the contrast and lighting of the drawing. Another strength I have is probably the ratios and structure of the picture as a whole. I enjoy analyzing the position of objects and fit them in the drawing. However, this reveal one of my weaknesses, which is the details of the individual object. One can easily understand when looking at my first drawing. My strongest ranking strength is empathy, which is the ability to “sense the emotions of those around you (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006, p. 46). I have used empathy a lot throughout my life by listening to others and by imagining myself in their situation. Over the years, I 've had coworkers confide in me problematic details about their lives. Being able to relate to what they were going through or how they were feeling, created some strong, lasting, friendships.…

Creativity, an essential skill that can simultaneously help advance the world and communicate different perceptions of an idea, has gradually declined since 1990. Original ideas are vital when it comes to problem solving, technological advancements, communication, and much more. If the public worldwide stops creating new ideas, the world will experience a plateau rather than growth in development. In order to boost creativity in the population, it is best to start at the foundation of all skills, school. Supported by a scientific study and personal experience, creative thinking should be taught in school, because without explicit practice of thinking creatively, the mind begins to lose that skill.…

Prior to completing ENGL 2200, I had many misconceptions. I believed creativity to simply turn a new and innovative idea into reality and in order to be creative as well as imaginative you must act on the ideas you develop. I learned that creativity is so much more in addition to being the foundation for developing newer technology, literature, artwork, and so much more in life. I also believed imagination to be a personal thing and what stimulates thoughts for myself may not be the same thing that stimulates thoughts for others. I am the type of person who when faced with a problem that needs a solution, I generate ideas with fluency and flexibility.…

A student who is an independent thinker not only acknowledges the teachers lessons, but finds additional information outside of class. Tidd et al (2005, P.3) states that “innovation is driven by the ability to see connections, to spot opportunity and to take advantage of them”. However, it is creativity that gives that ability to conjure up the ideas and Cummings (1998) supports this. He very much describes creativity as the idea generating stage. Martins and Turblanche (2003) also supports this theory and offers a definition for the context of organisational creativity. They state that: “…creativity can be defined as the generation of new and useful/valuable ideas for products, services, processes and procedures...”…
