What I Learned During My Writing Process

I chose to revise the first and forth essay. I chose these because they are the shortest essays. I know you wanted me to revise my research essay because I did not have parenthetical citations, but during my writing center visit I asked about those and I learned where they should be and how they should look. When I revised my papers I tried to think about the questions someone else who is not familiar with the topics would ask about my papers and I answered them. I did this more so for the narrative because I am the only one who knows exactly what I experienced during my retreat, so I tried to make it as clear as possible what it was like. This was not as necessary for the first paper because everyone can easily make an opinion about if superheroes are bad for kids development or not. …show more content…
The thing that changed was I can now better expand on my thoughts. I can now also write papers faster because I learned about what works best for me and what my specific writing style is. For the first paper I revised it by re-reading the whole paper and as I saw certain sentences I changed the wording of the ones that stuck out to me as not sounding like the way I would articulate it currently. I also added in a few sentences that I though could add to the clarity of the paper. For my narrative I revised it by adding in extra details about my retreat that would give the reader a better understanding of my experience. Such details as how the retreat house looked, the emotions of the other people and what I did in my free time. I feel my narrative is a bigger

In regards to my writing process, there have been some central strategies that I have developed over time and some strategies that I have had for as long as I can remember. For example, one skill that I have developed from high school has been to annotate, mark up, and take notes throughout my readings. I found that taking notes really helps me, not only to remember what I read but to go back and be able to point out something in my reading easily. In addition, it helped me understand the readings better.…

I would say I have a neutral opinion on English classes. Some days I like them, and some days I dread the time when I have to go home and write another really long essay. My writing process has always been about the same from year to year because I tend to do very well on most of them. I have really enjoyed reading books and plays in class, and I hope we can do that in the future.…

    1) My overall opinion on how this semester is going learning Latin is positive and I think it is going very well. I have improved my daily study routine by adding the tried and true method of old fashion handwriting vocabulary words into my notebook. The class was introduced to the Memrise online resource in the language lab and that has definitely helped me identify my need to learn to spell Latin correctly. I have no problem picking out the correct meaning and translating individual Latin words if I see it in a list, but writing from memory has always been difficult for me.…

Dear, Professor Hampton I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my math course, I’ve never been very good at math, I’ve actually always struggled with it tremendously. I failed my previous test and it brought my overall grade down. I think I know the underlying problem besides not knowing my multiplication facts but, at times, in the classroom i find my mind wondering off and I have to literally talk to myself and channel out the distractions. My first question, what are some other methods I can use to channel out the outside distractions because it’s beginning to do harm to my school work. Editing Reflection: Comparing and Contrasting Experiences Discussion This editing assignment has taught me a lot about my own quality of writing. It was very interesting to edit one of my classmates’ papers, to get a sense of what their writing style is like and learn about my own writing style, through comparing and contrasting our papers: what works, and what aspects need adjusting in future papers. I recognized the importance of headings and simple APA components, as it makes it that much easier to follow along, while understanding what is going to be discussed, and what is coming up next. The paper I edited, did not have any headings…

To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…

As we all know, the final Unit assignment is a personal reflection about what I’ve learned and who I am as a writer. In my opinion, only talking about everything I learned can be really a boring thing, I prefer to talk more about myself, my changes throughout the semester. After all, most of people like biographies much more than academic reports. You should know, readers, as a writer, I have an obvious difference from others. If you were to ask me about my high school writing experience, I would tell you that I did not have much experience. We did not have any classes at my school that were specifically writing classes. At my high school, we just had regular English classes where we would occasionally do a few papers in. My English teacher senior year was a great person, but did not necessarily teach us a lot about proper styles of writing papers. Coming into college English, I did not feel well prepared with what to expect for a college level writing class.…

Throughout most of middle school and the beginning of high school, I was a very factual person. I mostly read books that were informational and it was rather rare to see me in the fiction section of a library. Even when I was very little, I was more interested in watching a documentary than your standard kid’s show. So, in the tenth grade, when I had to take a creative writing class, I was not very excited about it.…
