Reflective Essay About Religion

Throughout my life, I have learned different things and discovered different concepts. This is the same for my religious journey. I have found god in many places, and have discovered more and more things as I have progressed. Through all the the knowledge I have learned, I feel that I now have a better understanding of my faith. I first found god when I was very young, probably before I remember it since I have gone to church for virtually my entire life. The people at this church were the ones to teach me about god and all of details regarding his existence. As I 've aged, my knowledge of god has increased as well. Now I feel that I understand that although god’s presence isn’t visible at all times, he is still there. I understand that he is there to help although it may not always seem like it at times as well. I would describe god as mysterious and unknown since there is no real way to understand god unless you were to directly communicate. Due to this lack of sensual cues of his …show more content…
At some times it is good, at others it is bad. For instance, when my parents got divorced I wondered if god was still there, and as time progressed I learned to live with the change. Some events that strengthened my faith would be the national youth gathering last year in Detroit. Seeing so many people come together for a good cause and try to help bring the Detroit area back to a good looking city was impressive, and I definitely felt closer to god at the time. God is working with me in life life by showing me the right way. Sometimes I may not know and something that seems bad may happen, but in the end it turns out benefiting me although I never would have thought it would have. The holy spirit ties in with all of this because in these times like the youth gathering people come together and the holy spirit compels them to do good. There are always times when although you may not feel it, the holy spirit is around

Essay 4: Religion: Scourge or Refugee? I. Scourge In his book Letter to a Christian Nation, Sam Harris analyzes the Abrahamic religions and makes an argument that these religious faiths are based on faulty mythological stories and that the very existence of these traditions is detrimental to society (Harris xi). Harris delves deep into the purpose of morality in these religions, as well as the correlational ties between religion and violence. He also takes the time to question God’s role in the world’s suffering and how perceptions of God can fail to tell the whole story.…

Good Morning I am Levi Haen and this is my faith statement. When I was younger I never really knew why we went to church, I knew that we were learning about God and Jesus Christ but other than that it was just a bunch of singing and talking, my faith was weak. When I got older I started to listen more and more in church and things started to make more sense my faith was getting stronger, but I still had some questions and confusions about the deeper meaning behind the biblical stories and passages. The two major influences that have encouraged and expanded my faith came from youth gatherings and the bible itself. Going to Nashville, Tennessee and feeding the homeless was something that has stuck with me overtime.…

Christianity is the most popular religion in America, and shortly after that is Mormonism. These two religions are both grounded in knowing who Jesus is, and the basic fundamentals of the Bible. Although both of these religions claim to be Christians or a form of Christian, Mormons definitely have their own take on how things happened and what they think to be true. I grew up learning a tremendous amount about both of these. I am a grounded Christian believer, with a very broadened knowledge on Mormonism.…

I have learned from reading this section that the Bible is not all good news. If we want to live through the Gospel, we have to realize that sometimes things don’t go our way. Although, that’s a part of living through God’s words and responding through faith. I have realized that God plants good and bad things in our lives for a reason. I believe that viewing our lives and everything else in light of the gospel, we will commit to living ever-mindful of the love of God.…
