A Career As A Teacher's Assistant

When I think about my future I think of the things that I have always wanted for myself: a big house, a husband, a dog, and kids are usually what I come up with. The only thing left to figure out is what career do I want to have? I have never wanted to be a doctor or a lawyer, and being an astronaut seems too scary. I tried to write music, but I did not know where to begin and once I got something written, I could not play it. Those two options were out of the question. Finally, I volunteered as a teacher 's assistant every morning for a kindergarten class at my school. The students listened to my instruction well. I was very good at making lesson plans and organizing crafts. I even enjoyed grading the student’s work. Being a teacher was something that I never realized I wanted to do, but I see now that I am actually very good at. As I volunteered more hours as a teacher 's assistant I grew more and more fond of the idea that someday I could be a teacher. …show more content…

I had just finished my Intermediate Algebra class at a local community college during the summer of my sophomore year at secondary school. It was fairly challenging, exactly as hard as you would expect a new math course to be, and I was contented that it was finally over. It was not long after that I began to resent the rest of my stodgy summer. I missed waking up before dawn, I missed the bitter cold that greeted me almost every morning, I missed the diverse population of students and trying to listen in on some of the foreign students’ conversations between and after class, and most of all I missed tutoring my classmates. All of my friends thought I was crazy and even I asked myself “Why be a teacher when you can be an engineer?”…

I was born in June 1992 at Saint Vincent’s hospital Hillsboro, Oregon. From the stories I’ve been told my grandparents and my two siblings were at the hospital with my mother, and my father was at a job site and called my mother to tell her that he was not going to make it because he was too tired to drive. That is what I know of my birth and that we moved around quite a bit in the first two years of my life before we moved into my grandparents. From the beginning I do not know if I was planned or not planned, but being the youngest is not the best thing in the world. In 1994, I was two years old when my family; mother, father, older sister, older brother, and me, moved into my grandparents’ house and my grandparents moved into an RV on the same property.…
