I will be attending graduate school and pursuing a Master’s in Higher Education Administration. When first looking at this internship it could be easy to say that it does not tie into my future goals. However, I feel that they professional skills I gained in this experience will always be with me. I improved my project management skills, communication and overall professionalism. I found myself touching 5-15 projects in one day while managing deadlines and resources. This skill makes me more employable and will allow me to take on my responsibility in all future jobs. Though I had previously considered communication to be one of my strengths I had to learn a completely different style of communication in this position. I had to communicate a variety of ways. Occasionally, I had to take extremely technical communication and then simply it for an advertisement or email blast. This required me to do research and gain an understanding for the product/ services I was discussing. Other times, I had to pass messages along from one source to another and this included interpreting one company’s messaging and putting it into our company lingo. I had to learn to communicate across departments. This included giving specific and clear instructions via writing.
