Essay On Interesting Places

In this essay it is required that I describe a setting in that I have interacted with those who have experiences and/or beliefs different from my own. Well being a young African American born and raised in Texas that’s not too difficult. From all the different schools I’ve attended, from just the few places I have called home, from just all the places I have visited I have definitely come in contact and had to work with people that are different than me. The seventeen years of my life I have walked amongst those who walk, talk, and think different than me. My three points will be pulled from my elementary years, to my time in middle school, ending with my high school years. Let me start telling by you about my kindergarten years. I remember …show more content…
One year there was one person in particular that our worlds didn’t collide very well together. I won’t use the other person name for this story I’ll call him Chris (The Bully). Chris was a student at LCA since kindergarten however we didn’t meet until third grade but the bullying started in junior high. We would fight a lot and sometime we would be angry at each other for a while. The attacks against me were starting to get physical but I barely fought back. I still didn’t realize I was being bullied at this time but when he started picking out how I act I started to understand that I was being bullied. Namely he said I wasn’t black or that I didn’t act it. He said I only fell under the bare minimum of the stereotypes like eating chicken and liking Kool-Aid but didn’t act tough or rap or at least the listen to hip-hop. However it was when I understood that he was there not to lift me up but only to cut me down I had protect myself so I fought back from what he said and when that fight was resolved I went to my parent about what had happened. So when we had to be close to each other I would respect him and talked to him when necessary because that is what I have always been told by my parents and teachers and I stand behind that. The bully was finally removed from the school but not because something between us, he did something that violated the school ethics was remove from

I was never really beat up but I was picked on and tormented for everything from my brother to the cloths I was wearing to my athletic ability to how well I did in school. Starting in fourth grade I was made fun of daily because I wasn’t good at sports. While I was in fifth grade Kelsi had a fit at school and a bunch of rumors began to spread around. Within a day, I began to hear stories about how she flipped out and it began to grow into this huge outlandish story. I was constantly bullied for that and I lost a lot of “friends” because of it.…

Social location is “The corners in life that people occupy because of their place in a society,” as defined by Henslin (2015). Henslin (2015) points out how sociologist look at how many things affect people’s behaviors, such as jobs, income, education, gender, etc., and how it also affects people’s ideas. Where we were born, when we were born, and who we are around when we are born greatly affects who we become in life. I am an 18-year-old Caucasian female who lives in Independence, Missouri. Due to the society, “a group of people who share a culture and a territory” (Henslin) I live in and my gender, I feel uncomfortable walking around outside at night when I am alone.…

In this essay, I’d like to talk about my experiences of being a half Greek and half Puerto Rican girl growing up in a hispanic neighborhood. Sure, I can discuss being a woman or how greatly my race and Greek culture have influenced my life, but I chose to write about the racial discrimination and prejudices I experienced in this specific area of my life because experiences like mine do not get recognized and are hardly ever talked about. They should. I chose this topic because I never get to voice what my experiences were like. The times I had voiced them, they were met with eye rolls from people who thought I was lying and labeled my experiences as fiction.…
