What Happened To Roger's Lessons?

When Roger tried to mug Mrs. Jones he got more than just the ten dollars he tried to steal. Roger took away life lessons such as; working for what he wanted, to forgive, and to never give up on someone. Roger took away that if he wanted something he would’ve had to work for it. He tried to steal Mrs. Jones’s purse that had money in it. Instead of working for the blue suede shoes he wanted, he wanted to take the easy way out and steal it. Although Mrs. Jones didn’t necessarily have Roger work for something she made him come back to her house, clean up and eat. He didn’t want to go back to her house but that’s what he had to do for her to eventually give him the ten dollars even though she never told him she was giving him the money. When he tried to snatch her purse he immediately felt guilty. While Mrs. Jones was dragging him home after he tried to snatch it, he realized that what he tried doing was wrong, but she forgave him by not taking him to jail. Towards the end when Mrs. Jones gave him the ten dollars he felt guilty for taking it and even worse he didn’t say thank you. Although he felt guilty for not saying thank you, he tried to move his lips but was speechless and Mrs. Jones could tell that he learned his lesson and she knew he wanted to thank her. Mrs Jones taught Roger to forgive himself.
Importantly, she taught him not to give up on anyone. Mrs. Jones could have just taken Roger to jail, but instead she took him home with her to teach him not to give up on someone. She mentioned about how she wouldn’t tell anybody her past if God didn’t already know. She never asked about his past because you could tell she didn’t care about that, she cared that he was going to change for the future.She trusted him enough with her purse for a second time when she laid it on the bed and left the room and he didn’t take it. Roger was given a second chance from Mrs. Jones and that taught him not to give up on
