What Happened To Les Miserables '?

“You don’t get harmony when everybody sings the same note.” Said by Doug Floyd. And his statement is so true when it comes to Les Miserables and how the singing ruined the movie and lost many eyes. There were parts in the movie that probably shouldn’t have been sung and they were which ruined the whole thing. The beginning of the movie should not have been sung because that was deep when Javert and Jean were signing when Jean was going to be set free of jail. Another one was when Marius and his friends were signing about fighting the Revolution and what they were planning on doing, that should have been discussed instead of sung. Lastly, the ending of the movie, when Jean was dying and Cosette and Marius were with him that should not have been …show more content…
And it was all sung, which made things even worse and less meaningful. Once Cosette and Marius got married, Jean went to that one church to live his last few minutes he had in life before he died. And it was not really sad when the whole time he was dying he was singing. “Forgive me all my trespasses, and take me to your glory” ("Les Miserables: The Libretto - Act I") said in his dying breath by Jean. This to mean that he wants to be forgiven, for all the sins he has committed and yet he decides to sing the whole thing. Jean in his dying form, tell Cosette and Marius to forgive him, to give him hope to move on to a better part of life after he has done all that he can to do what is right. He comes to terms that he became the best man he could be through all that he has done to protect Cosette and help those around him. His time finally came for him to move on, and they made him sing it like he was some psycho who had escaped the mental hospital. He should not have sung that, because it was meaningful with all the things that Jean was able to accomplish with the help of God. “The truth that once was spoken, to love another person, is to see the face of God!” ("Les Miserables: The Libretto - Act I") said by Jean and the all dead chorus that were singing. This was the last part of the movie about how they were saying that for all the salvation that Jean has done for others, he is allowed into the house of God. But because it was all sung, it sucked hardcore. It ruined the words, the flow of the meaning that was meant to represent something so meaningful and powerful that it just went down the toilet. In the aftermath, the movie could have been so much better if there was no singing

In the essay “What’s Happened to Disney Films?” author John Evans states the concerns of parents with regards to Disney motion pictures and how they are not as child-friendly as they were in the 1960’s compared to the 1990’s. Evans focus on the issues brought about in these films ranging from the use of profanities to violence, which should not be in Disney films. I understand the logic behind the authors position, he believes that the content of Disney films has taken a turn for the worse. Firstly, the author states that Disney has become a conglomerate having many subsidiaries and that it has had troubling effects on what Disney considers child-friendly.…

    M. Butterfly, written by David Henry Hwang, was released in the late 1980s, during a time when homosexuality was still a prime controversial topic. In the play we meet the character Song who is a biological male passing himself off as a woman for the Chinese opera and as a Chinese Communist spy. Song carries on a relationship with Rene Gallimard, who appears to be a heterosexual male, for twenty years. This work arouses many questions about sexual identity and orientation. The most intriguing argument is centered around the individual homosexual identities of the characters of Song and Gallimard, and the belief that Gallimard is wrestling with his inner homosexuality.…

The creation of musicals into movies may not accurately depict the story of the musical and important details may be lost. Movie directors often prefer popular and well-known actors over those who bear the proper talent for a given role. In a movie version of a musical, you often miss the small subtleties that vary between performances, be it a dropped line, an interesting recovery, or a prop malfunction. You also tend to miss the small modifications brought on stage by the director. In addition, there is a loss of catharsis between the actors and the audience in a movie musical.…
