One thing that I really liked about the movie is John Adams’s wife. She is played by Laura Linney. I loved the influence that she had on her husband. This referring to all the times when John had resorted to her for guidance. I thought this was very powerful. In a time where women were uneducated and essentially invisible, she helped make a path for John Adams. She was a woman way ahead of her time. There is a scene when John Adams is sitting at dinner with a group of delegates, his wife and one of the delegate’s wife. John and the rest of men are talking politics in Latin. There's a great scene where John Adams and Ben Franklin are reading Thomas' first draft of The Declaration of Independence. they're editing it, beginning with the first line. This scene really portrays the feeling of how our independence came to be. Men came together and decided that we needed this. They decided that the country needed independence to prosper. The scene captures that independence was not a forgone conclusion. They were standing up for something they believed was right, they were defying the odds. This scene I believe was also very
