The foods that are highest in carbohydrates are sugars, syrups, sweeteners, candies, cereal, cookies, cakes, refined flours, jams, preserves, bread, toast, bagels, and pizza. The important thing is the type of carbohydrate you choose to eat because some foods are healthier than others. The amount of carbohydrate in a high or low diet is less important than the type of carbohydrate in the diet. For example, healthier foods such as whole wheat bread, barley and quinoa are better choices than highly refined white bread or French fries.
