Finding Dory is an animation about Dory, a blue tang fish on the journey to find her family. Dory demonstrated the anterograde amnesia’s symptoms in the movie. Dory has a difficulty of forming and encoding the new memories. The film began with the flashback of Dory as a baby living with her parents. She got lost from the parents and traveled more farther from home as she was looking for the way home because she was suffering the short-term memory loss. One day, Dory was suddenly recalled of her family. She wanted to reunite with them and this took her to the journey of finding her family. She always stayed positive and friendly with everyone. She got caught by the researchers at the Marine Life Institute. In there, she met Hank, an octopus with the agoraphobia who helped her escaped. On the journey, Dory reunited with her childhood friend, Destiny, and Bailey. Marlin and Nemo also on the expedition in finding Dory. Dory eventually found her parents in her own ways. (Nordqvist, 2015). Retrograde amnesia is the memory loss in which the patients cannot remember events that occurred before the injury or trauma. On the other hand, the anterograde amnesia is involved with the difficulty of remembering the events happened recently (Coon and Mitterer, 2016). Anterograde amnesia is the result of damage to the hypothalamus and thalamus. The encoding memories are not able to store due to the disrupting in the connection between the hippocampus and cortex. The hippocampus is the switching station for the short term and long term memory. Hippocampus generate the new growing neurons that make the connection in the brain.
