“The proper function of man is to live, not exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.” I disagree with Jack London’s quote there are times when unnecessary risk is not acceptable because it puts your life in danger. He is saying he wants to do something new and crazy to have an interesting life. So London’s quote relates to extreme sports because he’s saying he wants to have an exciting life which could possibly involve extreme sports.
In Why do extreme athletes like Dean Potter risk their lives? By Eryn Brown, Brown says how dangerous extreme sports are. She shares two views on the topic, but she does mention how dangerous extreme sports can be. “BASE jumping, for instance, is inherently dangerous — skydiving from a fixed object instead of an aircraft, with little time to react or correct course should a problem arise.” She admits how dangerous BASE jumping can be. Even though she shares the danger, she also thinks extreme sports are good.
Some people may argue extreme sports are fun and exciting, and you get to live an even more interesting life.This is a valid point, however it is still dangerous.University professor Frank Farley said, “this is what being alive is for them. They don't want to sit at a desk all day.” He is right, not everyone wants to be sitting at a desk all day. That doesn’t mean they should be

I still feel like it is really dangerous. No matter how “interesting” trying something new might be, I wouldn’t want to risk my life. Lately, I feel like a lot of people started doing extreme sports, which doesn’t seem right. They might know the danger they getting themselves into, but that doesn’t make it fine. It’s important to have fun, but it is also important to be safe. So before going out there and doing this, we should be well informed of the danger. Any sport is dangerous, I agree but “extreme” sports exposes you too much
