What Does Volunteering Mean To Me

Volunteering is a way for people of different ethnicities and social classes to work together toward common goal. I would like to express to you how volunteering has impacted me, what I have seen through volunteer work, and how my experiences will assist me in the future. Many people will express how they have impacted others while volunteering. This is great, but first I would like to share what serving others has taught me. I have volunteered and worked and many camps for the past three summers. These camps are Church camps where I am a leader of a cabin of girls ages seven to twelve. These girls have impacted me in many ways but the most important thing they have taught me is to have self worth. These small girls are confident in who they are and they just want to have fun. Watching over them helped me to learn that this way of living fearlessly was the way to live. Through my Church we have visitation nights where we go out into the community of our Church and witness to people and invite them to come. This experience has taught me to be humble while serving others. There have been many cases where a child is left out or not participating much, so I will go sit beside of them and talk to them and make them feel loved. There is nothing that I love more than to care for the outlier or the underdog. In a group of children if I am not leading, you can always find me in the back of the group with the ones that are shy and not as comfortable. Many people have told me that my smile is a gift and that I can use it to make other people feel good. I plan to use these things that I am good at, that impact others in a positive way, in the future with completing my
