In the novel The Lord of the Flies written by William Golding, choir boys get stranded on an island. While being there all the boys face off different elements that are concepts are symbolize ideas. Symbols used throughout the novel are Piggy's specs, the beast, and the pig's head, golding shows us that humans when away from society's customs, it allows their inner evil to overrule their existence. The most important symbols in Lord of the Flies is literally the title of the novel, the pig's head. The author description of the pig's head is graphic and somewhat disturbing. The pig's head as "dim-eyed, grinning faintly, blood blackening between the teeth," (Golding 137). With this image of the pig's head, it shows awareness of the great darkness
