When birds squawk, fear soon follows. At this time in the play, a character that was recently introduced. Soon after, got into an argument with Mama. Actually, he wanted Salima. This was the case because he supposedly was her husband. For the most part, Mama did not want to give her up. This could be the case because he could possibly hurt her. Right after the man left this occurred, "(The parrot raises hell. Christian scolds Mama with his eyes)" (61). Not only this is a symbol of fear, it understands the future. Generally speaking people in this play are not sure what will happen. Given these points, they are scared about the war. Anyways, Mama was afraid of people getting hurt including herself. Possibly, anyone could make her be in the center of a war. For the most part, she does not want the conflict to occur.
