Softball is my main sport. I have played softball since I was eight. Ever since I have started playing for the school, it has changed my point of view of life. I have personally realized that the game of softball helps you with life. Softball teaches you to work with others, that you can’t expect everything to go your way, and that you can’t win all the time. I could use those three lessons in life. Being part of a team sport has taught me to work with other people. In order to play well, everyone has to work together. Even though it’s a team, you still have to pull your own weight. Y’all play as a team and you can’t blame just one person if y’all lose. Everyone is gonna have a bad day, but you just have to encourage them to keep going and

Sometimes the umpires may call against you in a close call, but you can’t let affect your playing. It may be a tied game in the last innings and you’re up to bat, you are gonna want a fastball straight down the middle. The pitcher is most likely not gonna pitch a fastball, especially down the middle. You could expect the other team to miss the ball, but instead they catch the ball and get you out. You could expect to go up and hit the ball, but instead you strike out. You could expect to go out on the field and play a perfect game, but instead you have a bad day. Softball taught me that I can’t win all the time. Dealing with defeat is hard, especially when you are competitive. Over time you learn to accept that losing is part of playing sports in general. You have to lose some to win some. If you don’t lose any, you won’t know what you need to practice. You eventually have to lose. It will be a lot easier once you accept that you can’t win all of them. Being part of a team sports is a wonderful thing. You get the opportunity to learn many things you could use in life. You could learn to work with others, not expect everything to go your way, and that you can’t win all the time. I wish I would have realized this when I was little and playing.
