To me, my American citizenship is very special, since I was not born in this country I had to work very hard to earn the right to be called an American citizen. Becoming a citizen has been one of the most important decisions I have made in my life. Being an American citizen comes with many privileges, for example, being able to vote on important issues. Along with the right to vote, being a citizen also comes with the responsibility of participating on a panel of juries, which is a major responsibility in my opinion. Finally, my cultural background has played a large role in shaping the meaning of my citizenship, coming from a country where its citizens have very little say in choosing their leaders I feel privileged to call myself an American.…
Patriotism is extremely important in America and is a piece of the foundation of our government, since it, as well as, nationalism and American pride have been rampant since the American Revolution and early years of the United States. Through patriotism, the U.S. can accomplish many things with the help of its people, especially when times are rough and a considerable amount of help is needed, even if it means sacrificing an arm or a limb, theoretically, for our government. Today, there are many organizations that were created as a way of helping drafted troops abroad. People can show their appreciation for the troops by sending donations to them for extended foreign trips, medical supplies and equipment, canned, dehydrated, or nonperishable food items, plastic utensils, basic hygiene supplies like toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, body wipes, disposable razors, special products (for feminine hygiene), not to mention, people can also send sentimental…

Bravery is part of the definition of an American.…

The United States of America is a noble country home to millions of people fortunate enough to have freedom and opportunities not many countries offer. My responsibility as an American citizen includes respecting one of our greatest symbols, the American flag. The American flag, through its’ colors of red, white, and blue, symbolizes true patriotic values and standards. The color red stands for courage and honorableness of men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.…
Patriotism can in many ways be defined as the love one has for their nation or homeland. Patriotism appears in many ways, shapes, and forms across the world and has been evident for millenniums. The United States of America is filled with pride and love toward the nation and contains patriotism in almost every aspect. George Orwell writes in the novel 1984 about a dystopian society where everyone loves the Party and their nation Oceania. The United States of America and the nation of Oceania both hold a great sense of patriotism throughout both nations however the patriotism in each country is extremely different.…

What the American Flag means to me The American flag has been a great symbol for two hundred years and it still continues to inspire Americans today. I have always looked at the flag and been inspired by the determination and hardwork it took to make the flag an iconic symbol. It makes me think about what our founding fathers had to do and how hard they had to fight to earn that flag.…
Flag burning has been a controversy for years, but it has made its way to the front view within the last couple months. Whether burning of the flag should be legal, or if it should have a punishment. Flag burning should be considered a form of treason, and the desecration of the flag should be punished. The debate in the House on the flag highlighted the great divide in our nation on the Constitution and the very definition of patriotism.…

The Land of the Unfree The word “patriot” has changed in meaning throughout time; however it has always seemed to be defined as someone that vigorously supports their country. Within the last few decades terrorism has become a major issue and if it wasn’t for the creation of the USA Patriot Act in 2001, by President George W. Bush, we probably would have had a larger amount of terrorist attacks then we actually had. The Patriot Act has helped monitor foreign communications, as well as electronic communications in America.…
Americans have always felt that liberty is of the greatest importance. All throughout American history we have protested, fought, and died for a chance at equality. Ever since European colonists and Native Americans met, they were no different from each other. Each of the groups had their own beliefs, and ideas about what liberties they were entitled to. To prove this, they were both willing to do almost anything for freedom and equality, no matter the risk.…
However, the inverse of this statement is that no other country is facing challenges or radical groups that want to hurt them as a nation. This is very similar to the ideas used in speeches after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Even in fear and chaos and destruction, we can still come together as one society and as a country. Both of these statements provide the sense of patriotism that viewers and listeners want to hear in a campaign speech, to enable them to see the candidate in one of the highest positions of power in our…
