Mama is a good person and want's to stay out of trouble with the Wallace what she means is that the Wallace will hurt them sooner or later.In the end of chapter six it states that "one day we will pay".Mama feels that the Wallace will get revenge on them.She feels that they will hurt her family.On page 139 it states that "You should not have done that Hammer ".Mama wants to stay out of truoblem but what Hammer did the Wallace or the night men will get revenge on them.She feels that they would do what they did to Mr.Berry.And that is what Mama meant when they'll have to pay for the Wallace backing up on the bridge
