In The Great Gatsby, we are introduced to Jay Gatsby; a rich millionaire who throws extravagant parties every weekend in his mansion. Before becoming a millionaire, Gatsby met a beautiful woman but left her to join the war. He is madly in love with Daisy that he searches for her to get back together. Although Daisy is married, Gatsby wants everything to be how it used to be. Gatsby’s desire to live in the past prevents him from moving forward. One’s past is full memories. They can useful or harmful momeries. In The Great Gatsby it said, “I wouldn’t ask to much of her,’ I Ventured. ‘You couldn’t repeat the past.’ ‘Can’t repeat the past?’ [Gatsby] cried incredulously. ‘Why of course you can!’ (Pg. 110)” Gatsby truly believes that one
