Liberty is more than another word in the English language. In America, the expression is used daily, but its true importance is never understood. The definition of liberty is mainly focused on freedom, but also signifies hope, speech, power, responsibility, and finally, respect. It is the invisible guidance that has shaped our nation into what it is today, a free and independent country. Liberty allows us to reach our full potential as not only individuals, but as a nation. Every day we are given the opportunity to choose what we want to do and speak up to make a difference. In fact, liberty was the one thing that had motivated the founding fathers of America to form a new union, known today as the United States of America.
Liberty has many different definitions that it would be difficult to attempt to write all of it down, but the most widely known meaning is freedom. The freedom to vote, freedom of religion, freedom of speech and the press, freedom to have fair trial to jury, among many others are all privileges that we enjoy deeply as Americans. Hope entered the dark chambers of our hearts, and has ever since been the sun of our existence, shining day and night, never dark, never extinguished.
