I have always worn my heart on my sleeve, death, heartbreak, and simply having to deal with what life has thrown at myself as well as my family is very real and has shaped me into the person I am. Compassion, what does it mean to me, it’s not pity for the less fortunate it’s the idea that each one of us deserve the best and nothing but the best. To have a such strong compassion for not only people but animals also has had both its pros and cons. I find myself giving way too much to people that don’t appreciate it, but then I’ve met people that remind why I do what I do. Among those people have been residents at the facility I did my CNA clinical at, and the kids in the Functional Life skills rooms which I’ve interned in. Not everyone has compassion, not everyone would be able to do the things I have and want to do. Comparatively, I would say that you would have to know and understand the meaning of compassion first. The definition states, a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. Compassion is helping out a neighbor and to suffer with them through a hard time. Compassion motivates people to go out of their way to help physical, spiritual, or emotional. The Dalai Lama once said that "compassion is a necessity, not a luxury", and that without it humanity cannot survive. One moment of compassion I have experienced is my father and I helping out my neighbor when he had to get both of his knees replaced.…

Prompt #1 Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations. The world I've learned to know is the life in City Heights, though this is not the world I came from. The world I came from compared to the world I have now is a tremendous change. As people think about City Heights, they think about the good things, whether it's the beaches, the diversity, or the beautiful weather. Although if you think about the world my family was raised in, Southern Sudan, the only thing that comes to mind is the war that has been continuing for decades, the death of innocent people, and the hunger and thirst seen throughout the country.…

Compassion is sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. Bob Therman previously said, “Until you have real compassion, you cannot recognize love.” The America that we live in lacks compassion and love. When some people notice a homeless person they cuss them out, or when they see a homeless animal they abuse it. That is animosity of what should be done.…

I have always considered my relationship with writing to be very insignificant. Although I enjoy spending time verbally expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, it becomes difficult when these thoughts and feelings are expressed through writing. Throughout my adolescent years, I would often receive feedback for my writing given by the teacher in the form of a grade. Being unable to effectively organize my thoughts and ideas into words and sentences, I would feel reluctant to continue writing confidently whenever I received an undesirable grade.…

Sayings, are sets of words that have powerful meaning and they either tell an advice or a meaningful story. Sayings are spread all around the world and each culture has their own sayings, however, there are some sayings that are found the same in many different cultures. An, interesting saying that I found in my culture goes like that “الوقت كالسيف ان ام تقطعه قطعك” ,and that mean that time is like a sword, if you don’t cross it, it will cross you. Moreover, this saying has been passed for generation, which made it have a vague history. What I mean about unclear history of the saying is that people in my culture don’t know for sure who said it or in what situation it was said.…

I find that extremely interesting because it is true – I spent the last eighteen years of my life in a New Jersey suburb an hour outside of the Big Apple. How did the Times know? Is it because I am familiar with the term “mischief night?” Is it because I call my Nikes “sneakers?”…
