It is often argued that cell phones should get banned from schools. To begin, students could get bullied because they are obese. They can get obese because they sit down all day on their phones, (Source 4). In this case, if some students are sitting on their phone all day they won’t necessarily get obese because there is no difference from sitting down all day on their cell phones than sitting in class doing work because they are still sitting down and they are still not exercising because they are doing absolutely nothing in school. It is the parents problem if they are on their phones all day when they get home and not at school. Banning cell phones would not do anything to the students at home so it would also not stop obesity. Secondly,

The central idea of the article “Should children get to have cellphones in elementary school?,” written by Donna St. George discusses the highs and lows of having a cellphone in Elementary school. In fact, it is stated how "It's definitely a trend we're seeing at younger levels – being allowed to bring cellphones on campus," (St. George, paragraph 6). Although this might not be a good thing it is a big trend and we do see cellphones everywhere, for younger kids and even some older ones it could be a temptation for cellphones to be on campus. Another detail shown is "To expect a child to turn it off – and not touch it when it's in his backpack – is a lot to ask for a 7-year-old," (St. George, paragraph 10). In addition to the temptation, children…

Although rules are set to protect the kids at school, I believe that some are just too strict. There are many rules that I respect, like no talking and also to stay in your seat. However, the no cell phone rule is just obnoxious. This rule should obviously be banned for many reasons. First off, I think that kids should be allowed to have their cell phones at school because of communication.…

One of the main reason kids are to come to school, is to learn, but phones are holding students back. As a result, ninety-four percent of high schoolers are on their smartphones daily throughout school. This situation is getting worse and worse everyday, kids are focused on being on there phone in class instead of learning. How are kids ever going to set good life goals, whenever there more focused on what’s going on in there phone, then what’s happening around them at school. Students should not be aloud to have their phone out in class or at school. If they have their phone out it could cause them to not listen, and it will just make a big distraction. It is ok if kids are just listening to music and are able to listen to the directions the teachers gives, but most can’t do that because they are distracted. They should put their phone away and listen when the teacher is talking, or just leave it at home so they can concentrate, and when they do have there phone out they can text there parents to come and get them because “they don’t feel good”. When the teacher is talking and a student has their phone out they should put it away so they know what to do.…

Cell phones may make it easier to cheat, but it is not a reason to ban them from everybody when you could resolve it so easily. Another concern is that cell phones have been linked to online bullying. Bullying is a serious issue, but if a child is going to bully someone, they will do it regardless. Taking their phone away from school is not going to stop them from what they do outside of school. I think more efforts should be put on actually helping students who bully, as opposed to taking away their phone and acting like it will solve the problem.…

Almost all of the studies show that cell phones make a positive impact. Teachers, parents, and administrators that think it will leave a negative impact, all worry about cyberbullying, sexting, etc. which is all understandable but it can happen at any time, any where so I do not see why that should stop the use of cell phones. In Canada, a study was done with 331 teens all at the age of 14-16. They were all tracked to see how it impacted their schooling.…
