I believe that culture has both created poor individual’s status of what it means to be poor and also in a way created poorness in itself. The idea of being poor is relative to the area and country you grew up in. Not only is this a factor, but the way society and culture views material things and status also dictates poorness. Though there are a series of ways individuals can come to being considered poor, it is no doubt that culture plays a role in this concept. As Oscar Wild mentioned in this article, the economic stratification that is occurring generation to generation is greatly affected. If a family is already near the edge of poor for instance, a shift in the society can ultimately cause this group to get further pushed down into poverty
