What Does It Mean To Be Judged

Throughout my life I have always been judged for my looks, hobbies and social groups. It is in our nature as humans to judge others. The word judge has a negative connotation, but the actual meaning of the word is to create and have an opinion. When people meet each other or learn that someone exists for the first time they form an opinion about them based on their looks, hobbies or their social group. They can later adjust that opinion the more they learn about the person and their personality. The majority of people’s initial opinion of someone is based off of their appearance. I have been judged by my appearance many times and so has everyone at some point. When I was on crutches I had to wear sweatpants most of the time. People would judge me for wearing sweatpants almost all of the time, but I could not control it because there was not a large selection of clothes that I could choose from because I was on crutches. Cheerleaders tend to have a negative stereotype and because of this if people knew that I was a cheerleader before they knew me then they would have a negative opinion of me the majority of the time. They form this opinion based on stereotypes and not my personality before they have the chance to know who I am as a person. Many people have judged me based on my social group. I have had multiple of my current friends tell me that they disliked me in the past because of my social group. Those friends have told me that they thought I was rude and arrogant, but they did not know my personality well enough at the time to understand who I really was.
