What Does It Mean To Be Educated

What is education and what does it mean to be educated?
Education is teaching and being taught. My teachers would always tell me “You learn something new everyday”, and it’s true. Education is not just the first 25 years of life as you go through elementary school, middle school, high school, and college. Education is eternal. Though I may not have any personal proof, since I am still in highschool, I know that as life goes on and people age, they don’t go through life with only the knowledge they learned during their first 25 years of life. The world changes constantly, and we are taught how to live in this rapidly changing time everyday.
To be educated is not to memorize hundreds of words on flashcards. It’s not knowing the pythagorean theorem.

I do not believe you can confine education to a single definition from a dictionary. I will be the first to admit that certain majors or degrees will set you up to be one-dimensional and specialized for one thing.…
