Barack Obama, John F. Kennedy, Ghandi, Abraham Lincoln, Mother Teresa, Malcolm X, our teachers and professors, Sonia Sotomayor, and even Jennifer Lawrence all have a common traits; they are all leaders known by many people worldwide. Not all were favorites in the eyes of the public, but all had a common goal to make the world or their country a better place, according to their own perspective. Everyone has their own definition of what they believe a leader is; some might say that a leader just need to be able to control a crowd, while other say that they have to assert dominance and people must almost fear them. So, what does it really mean to be a leader? One must have certain attributes, intentions that will encourage others to follow, and has had experiences to be a good leader.

Jade Hill, the former Sports Editor and Editor-In-Chief of Green Valley High School’s yearbook, agrees that all the traits stated above, but she believes the most important quality to have is “I think the most important thing a leader should have is the ability to balance being a leader and a friend. What I mean by that is a lot of times leaders get ‘I’m the boss’ engraved into their heads and that 's not what it’s about.” Hence, It 's about being good at what you do and teaching the others everything that you know. If you don’t have that balance, people won’t be as exhilarated to follow you. Hill also stated, “Be a leader, not a boss.” Everyone and anyone has the potential to be a leader, but it 's these traits and qualities that will really help one out to be a successful
