What Does It Mean To Be A Woman Essay

In todays society, most women try so hard to live up to peoples expectations on how we are suppose to look on an everyday basis. When we get dolled up, we get more compliments. When we put on a nice dress with heels or just something nice in general and our makeup looks amazing, the first thing our peers comment on is our image. When we do not wear makeup we end up having to hear “wow, you look tired!” or “you are very brave for not wearing any makeup out in public!” Beauty comes in different shapes and sizes and we as women of today’s humanity should not have to feel pressure to be something we are not and live up to someone else’s expectations and standards. We need to embrace what we already have and look deeper than the surface when it comes to ourselves and the people around us. In the song “Try” by: Colbie Caillat, her general message of the song is for us to be comfortable in our own skin and to be happy with ourselves just the way we are. Even though we as women, always seem to have to please other people just because we are female, we need to embrace our flaws and what we were given and blessed with …show more content…
Some people think that their favorite celebrity is perfect, but in realization, they are just like us. It is interesting because you have all of these models who look like they are just skin and bones, the perfect skin, no wrinkles, no beauty marks, no nothing. In the music video of “Try”, Colbie Caillat zooms up on her face to where it is all perfect and then she has another clip where it shows her without the photo shopped video and end up revealing all of her flaws. It just shows us that no one looks exactly how they look in music videos or magazine covers. Having the ideal nose no cellulite, or being skinny, will not truly make us content or happy with our lives. People shouldn’t waste any time on wondering what people think about them. What your own thoughts about yourself should only matter to you, not other people on this

During World War II between 1939-45, women were progressively obtaining jobs that they likely would not have been able to attain previously due to the absence of males in those fields. And around the 1960s, several federal governments mandated laws for the economic improvement for women like The Equal Pay Act of 1963 and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Despite almost fifty years of increasing equal opportunities gained by women, and the fact that today women account for approximately 57% in the labor force, their opportunities for leadership roles seem far from equal to their male counterparts. Not only that, the wage gap of women compared to men is almost 22% more (“A Guide to Women 's Equal Pay Rights”). Although the statistic of women in the…
