What Does Gratitude Mean To You

Improved Essays
Gratitude….. I don’t think about it much, but when I do, I realize that I’m grateful for many things. A lot of things come to mind, but basketball, vacations, and summer are the three things that I am most thankful for.
Basketball means so much to me! I’m excited right now because our first traveling basketball tournament is coming up shortly. I can already picture the referee lofting the ball up in the air like a pancake being flipped for the tip off! I like the intensity when it’s a close game. It makes you feel like you have to step up in the big moment. The feeling of victory is also very satisfying. It’s hard to take a loss, but it builds character. I also play basketball with my neighborhood. Sometimes we only have enough people to do a one on one, but it really gets fun when we have more people for bigger games. Sometimes the loser has to do something that the winners pick, and occasionally the winners get something. We play basketball with each other anytime we can. Do you want to know the best kept secret in Clear Lake? It’s called open gym. It is in the elementary gym from one to five during the basketball season. Anybody can play basketball there. I like to go there a lot because I improve and I see my friends. When the cold and long winter days come around, open gym makes me content. I have a great time at open gym!

Our most recent vacation was when my mom, grandma, and I went to Germany to visit my sister. She is a nanny there. I’m lucky because I got to see some incredible castles! The architecture there is unique because some of the buildings are really old. I even learned a German word, “danke” which means “thank you.” That came in handy because I used it to communicate. One of the highlights of the trip was when we drove on the Autobahn. It is a road with no speed limit! We were going 120 mph at top speed! It was awesome and it felt like a carnival ride! I will never forget my vacation to

My modified basketball years, seventh and eighth grade, were by far some of the most fun years of basketball thanks to Carrie Weegar. Carrie was our coach and she made practice so much fun each and every day. Along with working hard and practicing the fundamentals that we would need to know for JV basketball, we played many different games and had many moments where we would just fool around and have fun with each other. While being a part of the modified basketball team I got to know a few girls, Abby Taylor, Jenna Kesner, and Haleigh Agans, who ended up being my teammates all throughout high school and we accomplished great things…

There have been many elements that I have learned through the Harlingen High School basketball program, which may be transferred to any situation in life, as the basketball program has allowed me to determine the type of person I am. This was due to the fact that I was placed in many challenging situations, which fatigued me both mentally and physically, to a point which I chose how willing I was to overcome those obstacles. Organized basketball has been a part of my life beginning at age six, and has not left my side since. I have loved the game itself, and the actual competitiveness that is apart of it. Competitiveness is the overall intention for the game of basketball and would not and could not be enjoyed without such an element as it.…

My favorite vacation was the time when my father and I took a cruise to the Bahamas. We went through different types of cities such as Freeport and Nassau. I enjoyed seeing the sites, going to little shops, looking at all the views Bahamas had to offer, and learning the diverse cultures. The Bahamas offered a few amazing attractions and events while we were there. We did family activities such as boating riding, fishing, seeing the dolphins, and taking tours around a few cities.…

The city streets scream out the ideals of entitlement. You are entitled to only the best, the top, the newest and you can’t be satisfied with anything less. There is a quote that goes, “Today’s better will always be bested by tomorrows better yet.” This means whatever you have is never enough. Face it, your new iPod nano 5th generation that was once the top on the market will soon be bested by the Nano 10th generation.…

I Believe In Appreciation I believe in appreciation. When I was a child, my mother often told me to appreciate what I had in my life, as she consistently tells me now.
