Unquestionably, there is a mountain of information and perplexities concerning God fitting into humanity’s sexual beings; as this debate continues to meander into space and time. In Part I of this book, attempts were made to understand how God’s Image could conceivably be connected to people’s sexuality. In viewing Biblical teachings, the text informs us that God created male and female in His own image (Gen 1:27). Again, this particular reference unmistakably is puzzling if we consider that God is everywhere, at the same time, with complete and unlimited Divine knowledge. Concurrently, God’s hierarchy of credentials alongside of humans clashes with the obvious, as people’s ability to be like God in this sense is unachievable.
So once again, if we are made in God’s image and given the fact that God is not a psychical body, what does God’s image imply? The well-known psychologist and theologian, J. Harold Ellen’s, recounts in his book, Sex in the Bible: a New Consideration, to the reference in the Bible about humans being, ‘created in God’s image’ and perceives the text intends to tell people that there is something essential to the very nature of God; which is reflected in human gender and sexuality. He discerns this image is not characteristically just spirituality, rationality, intellectual or emotional excellence, or language proficiency; but is our gender, our sexuality, our maleness and femaleness, and it is in this sexual nature of humans and of God that we are so…
