The novel is comparing Victor to the Greek God, Prometheus and how he gave the gift of fire to the people but in the end result got punished. So when Victor was trying to give the people "the secret of life" he also go punished for doing that. Fire is a symbol for destruction, when the creature is consumed by the fury of when the people didn't like him. He started to burn their homes down.

In the novel Fire is the symbol of doom, which is a connection to the devil. With association of the devil himself does hellfire create the sense of for boding. Which make it so the creature is often going to be doomed somehow and in some way. Fire can also mean other things than just being dangerous. Fire is also beautiful and can help you through the dark nights, it can also help light the way. First Literature Exam I. The literature that developed during the 1700s and post-Civil War era displayed very complex representations of romantic relationships. Interactions between men and women were portrayed as stereotypically patriarchal but also depicted the impacts of individualism on relations between the two sexes. This shows the death by fire always creates a rebirth for new life and a new beginning, similar to a forest fire. In another case of symbolism in the book, guy encounters many obstacles on his journey, one of them being a river. “The river of course is also a key symbol of nature in this book, it represents a free flowing environment as yet uncorrupted by humans” (Evans, 4). This quote shows that in the bad in all situations there is always some positive, and that positive could be something you don’t even realize. Symbolism is a great way to spread a message within a book, it also is a great way for people to get a deeper knowledge of the authors thinking.…

Eventually he is forced to leave everything he thought he cared about, his wife, job as a fireman and friends behind in order to do what he discovers is the right path for him. Seeing a stark contrast between the parts of his life that revolve around fire and the parts that include water help him make and reinforce these decisions throughout his journey by providing contrast. Fire is one element that is always a second, a strike of a match, a flick of a lighter, away, and it aids in creating a warm, dimly lit, pleasant environment. One reason to relate fire and savagery is that instead of being a signal fire like it is supposed to, the fire got out of control. It set the whole forest on fire, which is a huge destruction to the environment and alarming the boys that fire is dangerous, most importantly, it killed the mulberry-colored birthmark boy (Golding, 46), that is a disturbing thought for the boys, especially Piggy and the littluns, because they’ve never seen fires ability of destroying everything. Another reason is for fire demonstrating brutality is because Jack used the help of fire, almost committing a murdering crime. He set the forest on fire, using the powerful hand of pure, tried to burn Ralph to death, but the fire got out of control, and almost led to everyone's death. For these reasons, fire is a strong representation of savagery.…

The fire’s warmth comforts and pleases the monster, and he perceives that the fire is innocuous. The fire also provides knowledge to the monster, as the monster understands how to create and use fire, information which he exploits later in the novel. Although fire symbolizes warmth and discovery, it also symbolizes destruction and despair. Shelley explores fire’s destructive ability when she relates the monster’s feelings upon first touching fire. Specifically, when the monster touches the fire, he feels a “cry of pain” and is shocked that the fire which originally comforted him “should produce such opposite effects” (Shelley 72).…

Wiesel consistently refers to fire, flames, and smoke throughout the poem; these terms are very interrelated. Fire, in general, signifies the consumption of an object or thing and once it has been consumed, it no longer exists in its original form. With that repetition, it deepens the meaning of what Wiesel is exerting from his poem; how the flames and fire consumed his faith, the deepest and strongest part of his soul. It creates an environment around the reader of sympathy and makes the meaning of that repetition more significant and effective. This is really effective because something that is sad and painful is more dramatic when it is said in a new environment filled with sorrow and sympathy; enables the communication of the pain that…
