What Does Empathy Mean To Me Essay

In this world that we live in everyone has different principles. In many of our lives we have guiding points that we as humans choose to live by. Throughout my childhood as well as now honesty, caring and empathy have been and still are a big part of everything I do. All three of these principles go hand in hand with each other. Although for many they might not seem important , I feel they reflect upon me as to whom I am as a person. Maybe it was the way I was always told to be but never the less they still stick with me as being important aspects to live by. I once read , " honest hearts produce honest actions" , that statement is something I choose to live by. I feel that as a person I am very great at understanding the individual feelings of others. Ever since I was young I have showed concern for others. Regardless if it was a problem at school , at home or with friends. I have always figured if I could help others the world would be a much happier place. I feel that as I have grown older I have become more empathetic. I have realized more concerns people have had and made sure I had a proper solution to their concerns. Throughout life I have experienced people that needed to know that someone would be there for them through the good and the bad, the thick and the thin. Society today has made it very hard for people to show any form of sensitivity. Sensitivity is look upon as weakness and the last thing people want to look is weak. I feel that sensitivity is a very big aspect in becoming close to someone cause it helps you learn more about them. At the end of the day empathy is important to me because I think everyone should know that their problems aren't pointless and that more people are concerned about them then they think. Rachel and I are much alike in our thoughts and core values. I feel we both share the same compassion about caring for people. I feel that Rachel and I both know that there is bad in the world but want to look for the good in others. The examples of herself in the article really strike me as being similar to how I am as a person. I care very deeply about others and trust fast just like she does.
