Harper portrays these birds as characters, by saying that they are very caring and sweet and they wouldn’t hurt people. As the birds being kind to each other they all have unique songs that the birds can sing that they sing to represent themselves by doing. The characters who were thought off when singing their own mockingbird song is Dolphus Raymond, Tom Robinson, and Jem Finch. He pretended like he was because he liked to hang with the color folks, and he also had mixed children implying that he had obviously been with a colored woman. If Dolphus Raymond were to sing his song, it would be “Don’t Matter” by Akon. The lyrics in the song “Nobody wanna see us together, but it doesn’t matter/ I’ma have you first always in my heart”. That is exactly what Dolphus Raymond did, he didn’t let other people's thoughts and opinions get to him so it didn’t matter that he hung out with color folk and mixed children. He also did his best to try and keep his colored friends and his children close to his heart, the only way to do it though was to act drunk all the time, it’s just something he learned to live with. When you are a Dolphus Raymond in this world, just do what makes you happy. In the life of Tom Robinson he is a colored man in these times of the great depression, and racist, it is very hard for him to live a normal life. On top of his life being hard, he has to face this trial on top of it. Tom is actually a very good man and has good intentions to help
