What Does Bible Mean To Me

Decent Essays
One symbol that is significant to me is the Bible. Being a devout Christian, I find myself having the desire to read my Bible every night and day. Reading the Bible gives me a boost for the day and optimism that the day will go right because encouraging verses allow for such thoughts. The Bible allows me to grow stronger in my faith as I also obtain more knowledge of Jesus, trust, love, etc. Even though as noted a “secular” country, being dominated by Hinduism had brought it difficult to be a Christian in India in the 90’s. Today, Christianity is a religion that is growing rapidly in India. A person can now carry a Bible without having fear of being persecuted for their beliefs. The Bible not only continues to have importance in me but also

While occurring continuously, the best example of a symbol is Eustace. At one point in the story, his greed and corruption leads to him taking a quick rest in a dead dragon’s cave, a place filled with gold and treasures of all kinds. However, he undergoes a transformation while he sleeps into an entirely different creature, making him on the outside what he is on the inside: a dragon. This transformation is the beginning of a new Eustace, both figuratively and literally, since he changes considerably for the better afterward. One could also argue that this is not only a powerful symbol of change, but also one of Christian baptism and rebirth.…

Theologians impress me with their dedication to Scripture, knowledge, and wisdom. It is such a fine line to draw between interpretation and revelation. A life dedicated to understanding and diving as deep into the context of Scripture is a great calling and skill to have. Even with all of the amazing scholars that dig and dissect through the pages of the Bible, there are still so many things that are widely debated and argued about. I like how the text sums it up by saying, "where there appears to be conflict, it is a conflict of interpretation" (Entwistle, 2015, p. 227).…

The images displayed on my vision board are various in type, meaning, and importance. One aspect of the board is education. I used a picture of a golden graduation cap to signify academic excellence, as it is a strong value of mine. To further represent my dedication to the acquisition and application of wisdom, I added a visual of an open book with a key nearby. The purpose in that was to show how important education is, and how I will use it to unlock opportunities in life.…

To interpret a passage responsibly and reflectively, one must study the literary context around the passage. By literary context I mean how the context shapes the meaning of the text. If we know it or not, each time we come to a text, we are already implying our presuppositions about what we know. More than often, our presuppositions are incorrect because we receive them from our present day in age and not that of the day the text was written. We need to throw these out, and study the text around our passage.…

The Bible may be the greatest book that was ever written: containing about forty authors, with five of those authors being apostles of Jesus Christ have written the gospel according to each’s own telling. This great book is the foundation of Christianity; although there are many different branches of Christianity the Bible is, or at least should be the foundation of the many branches of Christianity. As a Christian the Bible guides, and gives us power and strength in The Lord. Everyone should read the Bible; for it teaches and gives us the ability to sort out the good from evil and live our life according to the way that God and Christ have taught others in the past. I don’t where I would be without such a book; it has guided me, taught me well, and through Christ and God, it has given me peace and happiness that I could never be replaced by nothing of this world we live in today.…
