What Does Ambiguity Mean To You Essay

I am a very good listener. It is one of the qualities that I like most about myself. As a communicator, I feel that I my empathy is one of my strongest attributes. Empathy involves feeling and experiencing another person’s situation, almost as they do. When listening to others, I internalize what they are saying or expressing. Because I am aware of what someone is going through, I am able to respond in a way that shows I understand and care. I would like to have more tolerance for ambiguity. Tolerance for ambiguity makes it possible to accept, and even embrace, the often equivocal and sometimes downright incomprehensible messages that characterize intercultural communication. I can be very impatient at times and this can make intercultural communication difficult, especially if there is a language barrier. When I cannot understand a person, I tend to take control of a conversation and that is something that I am working very hard at correcting.

I want people to think that I am well put together, respectable and trustworthy. When I am meeting someone face to face, I tend to do my hair a little nicer, put on makeup and make sure to wear a smart outfit. Manners matter. When I am in face to face communication with someone, I always step up my manners. I little extra please and thank you goes a long way. I sit up straight and stand tall to so people know I am proud and self-assured. I drive a minivan that shows I am a respectable person with family values. In mediated communication, I pay more attention to what I write and my writing style. I am a bad speller, so I always spell check. I may read and re-read what I am typing a couple times before I post anything. Since the person I am communicating with cannot see me, words are all I have to represent who I am.
