What Does A Heart Mean To Me

Decent Essays
A heart is a symbol that best represents me because, like me,it has very distinct parts. One of the key parts is kindness. I treat everyone with respect. Even though, everyone might not do the same. Also, I have a tendency to help other without being asked. Along with encouraging those who don't receive much support from family, friends, etc. Once I helped an elderly woman put her groceries into her car. To this day, I never forget the joy in her face. Like a heart, I provide support and help in order to keep a person alive.Besides kindness, another part of the heart is caring. Other's feelings concern me. For example, if I see a friend/classmate looking down or out of the ordinary I ask them if they’re okay. Always, I listen to everything

This poem written by Elaine Magarrell is about the speaker cooking her sister’s tongue and brother’s heart. She describes the layout vividly and appetizing, almost as if she was writing her own recipe book. However, there is more than just cooking in the poem. Magarrell lets the readers know that the poem was written in a sarcastic voice and used figure of speech throughout the poem. I believe Magarrell intentions is to let the reader know that the oldest son/daughter is sometimes aggravated by their younger siblings’ charisma.…

The rental heart by Kirsty Logan is about a person who is dating a lot of people and gets heartbroken every time they part ways so the main character goes to the heart rental place and rents a new heart to mend their broken heart. Throughout the story we hear about seven different partners, both men and women. The main character is currently dating Grace but looks back to past relationships. We are not told if the main character is male or female, so my interpretation is they could be gender neutral or a woman just like the author, it might be written from personal experience. She dates a lot of people, so she’s desperate for other people’s affection but she can’t deal with the pain that comes with it, so every time she breaks up with someone…

An elderly woman who got to take part in a high school community service project states, “Many think that volunteering is all about what you give. But what catches you by surprise is how much you receive in return.” This demonstrates why many people do not feel that they should give back because they do not believe the benefits that they can get from it as well. Consequently, when creating that feeling of happiness and satisfaction in someone else’s life, it comes back to the person creating it. Volunteering to help someone get tutored, help the handicapped, involve themselves with a program like Meals on Wheels, certain environmental work, etc., not only does one gain from that, but one’s community has been helped because of them.…
