A Day to Remember

“Our enemies have made a mistake that America’s enemies always make. They saw liberty and thought they saw weakness.” (George W. Bush) Although, 9/11 happened when I was in kindergarten, it has been a part of my life ever since. It blows my mind that today’s high school freshman are being taught 9/11 as a historical event and not one that they were alive for. 9/11 is intertwined in my life in many ways but the largest interaction I have had is Thomas Burnett Day. This is a day that everyone comes together to give back to the community. I do believe that 9/11 has had effects on me that fall under the social sciences and humanities. Although, I do not feel that 9/11 had an impact of natural science on me, it did have an impact on many people. 9/11 is day that will be forever remembered in United States of America. “On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States.” (1) Two planes hit the world trade center towers, one crashed into the pentagon, and one into a field in Pennsylvania. Over 3000 lives were lost on that day becoming the one of the biggest losses of life for America. Over three hundred of the lives lost were firefighters and police trying to save and protect America. 9/11 is a day that continues to effect America, right away all planes were grounded and the U.S. focused it’s efforts on helping the places in need.…
