Every once in a while my grandmother wants to order out. On those days, the big questions that gets asked around my house is “What do you feel like eating?” or “Where do you want to order from?” My mom and grandmom are in the kitchen discussing what they want to eat, when suddenly my mom yells to me in the living room, “Victoria what do you want to eat?” “I don’t care,” I state, very neutrally. It didn’t matter to me where they ordered from. “That’s up to you guys.” “Why do I even bother asking her? Her answer is always the same,” she tells my grandma. I sat there thinking about how often I say “I don’t care” and if I really should be saying it that much.
The other night, I was reading a book that I was completely engrossed in, when my sister, Gabrielle, came charging down the steps talking about a movie she saw that night, for the fourth time. She has told me about this movie multiple times already. “Oh my god Victoria, you have to see this movie. It’s so--” I just kept reading and tuned her out. I wanted to find out what was going to happen next in my book. “Are you even listening to me?” she asked, with her hands on her hips, a couple minutes later. “No. I don’t care...” I replied, “I’m trying to read. Tell me later.” She rolls her eyes and says, “You don’t need to be sarcastic about it.” “Whatever,” I said.
