What Do Older Generations Misunderstand About Your Generation

What do older generations misunderstand about your generation? Generation after generation, the world has significantly improved because of technology. In today’s society we use touch screen wireless cell phones instead of landlines or house phones. We attend churches that have now turned to guitars and drums instead of traditional music with the piano and submit offerings by our smart phones. Today’s kids will never understand the past generations because of technology. In almost every store that you go in you will see young teenagers with brand new iPods smart phones in their hands. They know more about technology than parents and grandparents do these days. My grandparents have recently upgraded their phones from a Motorola Razor flip phone to a Samsung Galaxy SIII and I had to educate them on how to work it and turn it on. They laughed and said that it was the funniest looking phone because all that they had growing …show more content…
If you want to see pictures of your friends or find out how they are doing, you can now type their name in on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Almost everyone has some kind of account on social media and posts pictures or statuses of how or what they are doing each and every day. My parents and grandparents even have a Facebook account with many albums of pictures of my brothers, family, and even pets. There will soon come a day when there is no longer any paper or pencils to write and everything will be submitted by computers and smart phones. Older generations will never understand that the games we play and the phones we communicate on are stress relievers, although they can be misused and can get you into trouble. Elderly people often feel scared for their grandchildren because they know what is really going on in the world and that times aren’t as peaceful and safe as they used to be for them growing

In the midst of a technologically saturated lifestyle, I stand by the idea that technology’s impact on the United States was once empowering, but has began to hinder the minds of average Americans. Many individuals go about their day without recognition of their use of short cuts that weren’t available a mere ten years ago, let alone the use of developed inventions that began one hundred years ago. I feel immensely fortunate to be apart of what seems like one of the last generations to physically understand what the human race has grown from because technology has shifted our mental and physical capacity to comprehend and teach information. Regardless of the negative and positive perspectives upon technological advances, the emergence of…

Ch4: Culminating Conversation With the advancements in technology, many people see it as a way to expand knowledge, but some will see it as a distraction. In modern day, many of younger people are more dependant on technology, which enabled them to grow differently from the elderly people. This causes many people such as Mark Bauerlein to see the Millennials as the “dumbest generation,” due to how they “lack in general knowledge.” However, the Millennials are not the “dumbest” because of the difference in time and value, socializing, and their motivations to learn.…
