What Did You Expect From This Course At The Start Of The Semester?
My expectations from this course at the beginning of the quarter were to learn about different nutrition intervention programs around the world and the effective were these. I also expected to be able to use information learned from this course in my personal life as well as in my professional life in the health field. Finally, I also expected to learn about nutrition-related problems that I was not aware at the beginning of this course.

All of these expectations were learned through the different topics discussed during the past 10 weeks. I was able to learn from different nutrition intervention programs around the world. For example, for my critique paper, I learned about the commercially available peanut-based Ready-to-Use-Therapeutic- Foods (RUTF) paste called Plumpy’nut as well as a new The Vietnamese RUTF called HEBI. There are several nutrition-related problems that I was not aware at the beginning of the course. To mention a few, we learned during week 9 about “anorexia of aging” and that it even occurs in healthy older adults and is present in higher and lower-income regions. We also learned during weeks 8 and 9 about the inadequate dietary intake of specific micronutrients in pregnant women, breastfeeding women, children age 0-5, and elderly people that lead to malnutrition and disease.
