A proctored exam is an exam that is overseen by a trustworthy adult that does not have any vested interest in whether the student passes or fails. It is a way of testing to insure fairness and credibility. The reason the UoPeople requires it is because UoPeople is an online institution. In Contrast, a brick and mortar school does not necessarily require students to find their own proctors because the professors would be handling student exams, thus, this is a way for the UofPeople to test the student, secure fairness and do so all over the world. There are documented guidelines that outline what the UoPeople will recognize as a “proctor” and these guidelines can be found the student portal. 2. “The proctor should receive an email from Student Services with the student’s personal details and a code to access the final exam. There are additional steps involved if the proctor does not receive an email. In addition, one candidate for proctoring my exams would be among the Senior pastoral staff at our church in Fredericksburg (or whichever church we find ourselves attending regularly at that time) that meets all the criteria for a proctor.
